The Rheology Modifiers division focuses on the selection, processing and production of organophilic and other bentonite products to meet a wide range of needs. We are dedicated to meeting our customers’ needs across a wide range of applications: architectural paints, varnishes and coatings; industrial maintenance and protective coatings; products for wood; automotive and transport services; printing inks; and cosmetics and body care products.
Solvent-Based Coatings
LAVIOSA ARGIMEL® products are rheological additives based on organically modified clays, which help to counteract settling and dripping in solvent-based systems, ensuring homogeneous pigment distribution, in addition to remarkable stability during storage and application. They are easy to use, with no need for heating or special equipment. The most common applications for LAVIOSA ARGIMEL® include: industrial paint, wood glazes and varnishes, marine paint, outdoor paint, anti-corrosion paint and varnishes, road paint, and spray paint.
Water-Based Coatings
LAVIOTHIX products are rheological additives based on modified clays, which help to counteract settling and dripping in water-based systems, ensuring homogeneous pigment distribution, in addition to remarkable stability during storage and application. They are easy to use, with no need for heating or special equipment. The most common applications for LAVIOTHIX include: interior paint and water-based coatings. Our activated bentonite, selected for its low crystalline silica content, can be incorporated as a rheology modifier in all water-based systems and used during the production and application of elastomers, as a lubricant, release agent and anti-adhesive.
Ink
LAVIOSA ARGIMEL® products for the ink industry are used as rheology modifiers, especially in high-speed printing inks. LAVIOSA ARGIMEL® helps to control dripping, ensuring uniform consistency and better printing resolution. LAVIOSA ARGIMEL® products are typically used in lithographic, newspaper and letterhead inks. Our selection includes several products from the LAVIOSA ARGIMEL® range, including LAVIOSA ARGIMEL® XDS, which was created and developed specifically for the ink production sector.
Construction
We produce a wide range of modified bentonite products that serve as rheological additives to improve the workability of finished products. The dry-mix systems used in construction must offer several carefully balanced properties, including rheology, workability and water retention. Our LAVIOKOLL products have therefore been developed to achieve the perfect balance across a range of applications.
Tile Adhesives
The products in the LAVIOKOLL line have been developed to control tile slipping and the workability of adhesives, facilitating application while ensuring excellent mechanical strength. These products can be used in both powder and suspension systems (latex, epoxy mixtures).
Screeds and Grout
LAVIOKOLL products impart excellent suspending properties to aggregates and gypsum-based cement systems.
EIFS Adhesive and Stucco
The products from the LAVIOKOLL line bring perfectly balanced properties, including workability, finish and water retention, to high-quality stucco and EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finishing Systems).
Pastes
In paste systems, LAVIOKOLL products are able to express their full potential as rheological modifiers, increasing properties such as sedimentation and slip resistance.
Restoration Mortar
The LAVIOKOLL series is ideal for controlling the rheology of plasters and restoration mortars, including powder-based products and suspensions.
Plastic & Rubber
The organically modified and non-organically modified clay products in the DELLITE line are dedicated to the world of plastic and rubber. They can be used in a wide range of polymer matrices to form nano-composites, resulting in enhanced mechanical and physical/chemical properties.
Automotive Industry
The products in the DELLITE line bring lightness to the polymer matrix while improving the mechanical properties and resistance to thermal degradation, in addition to forming a barrier against fuel vapours. They are therefore able to offer a range of advantages, including lower costs, better resistance to the most common corrosive agents, reduced gas emissions due to lighter vehicles, and a lower environmental impact. DELLITE products can also be used as additives for tyre compounds, increasing their lifespan by improving the thermal stability and gas barrier effect.
Packaging
Compared to traditional inorganic additives, DELLITE products reduce the density of polymer matrices, increasing the gas (oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapour) and odour barrier properties, and improving solvent resistance.
Electrical Cables
Integrated with the polymer matrix, in combination with inorganic Halogen Free Flame Retardants (HFFR), the products from the DELLITE line ensure increased flame resistance. They are also able to minimise the most common issues, including high density and poor mechanical properties (elongation resistance, breaking load), and to facilitate the compounding and extrusion phase.
Grease & Lubricants
- Increased resistance to thermal degradation;
- Increased cold tolerance;
- Increased water resistance;
- Improved adhesion to metal surfaces.
Cosmetics
Water-Based Systems
Solvent-Based Systems
The products from the ARGIMEL® and COSMOCLAY® lines are effective rheology modifiers and good texturisers, which makes them suitable for the preparation of W/O emulsions, creams, high-performance gels, and silicone-based emulsions. They can also be used as co-emulsifiers. These products are commonly used in nail polishes, foundations, lip glosses, lipsticks, mascaras and eyeliners.
